edited 11-18-08 to add photos ... more photos still to come
Happy Sunday! Last night I made a quick run to Michael's Crafts and got some INCREDIBLE deals on Fall Decor items at 80% off:
I chose three gorgeous ceramic pots ... all were originally priced at $14.99, clearance price was $2.99 each. All three are ceramic ... the first two are glazed on the outisde only, so they can't be used as vases unless I place a liner inside to hold the water.
This pot is a pretty cranberry color, though it looks sort of brick- or rust-colored on my monitor. It's oval, about 4.5" tall, 8" wide, and 6" from front to back at the midpoint of the rim. The glaze has a bit of rust color added to the top rim, for a nice vintage effect.
This one has lovely texture, too. It's pitted sort of like the skin of a cantaloupe, and has an unglazed impression of leaves. It's a deep olive green, darker and browner than it looks in the photo, and is approx. 7.5" tall and 7" in diameter at the widest point.
This would be really pretty on an outdoor table, with a clear hurricane chimney added and a 3" pillar candle. I'll have to see if I have the pieces to put one together and get another photo.
This flared oval pot is Asian-inspired, with rings that remind me of bamboo (ok, very skinny bamboo). It's glazed inside and out, so could be used for fresh flowers without a liner. The glaze is a bit speckly or mottled, in rich shades of warm browns ... and, yes, it's quite a bit darker than the photo, due to the flash. It measures 6" tall, 10.5" wide, and 5.25" from front to back at center of the rim.
I bought 2 really nice faux pumpkins ... the ones that can be carved, painted, etc. Clearance price was less than $1.50 each.
I also got an awesome pre-decorated Fall wreath with a scarecrow ... originally priced at $69, it was 80% off ... only $13.97, which isn't enough to even pay for the materials to make it.
The Michael's store I went to had LOTS of other Fall decor items on clearance for 80% off, including dried flowers, beautiful baskets, pre-made wreaths and centerpieces (perfect for Thanksgiving), and lots of Halloween items. If you can make time to go today or tomorrow, I strongly suggest it.
